How Beautiful, Side Swept Curls

Gorgeous side-swept wedding hairstyle. I love the big billowy curls. They look so feminine especially paired with the forest and mountain backdrop. This style would be easy to achieve.

Section hair into inch wide sections.
Use a combination of medium and large barrell curling irons to create curls.
Place bobby pins and a barrette behind the right side of the head and pile hair on the other shoulder. Pin as necessary to keep hair side-swept.
Don’t over-spray the curls, as they won’t get the movement and beauty we see below.

Rachel McAdams, our favorite Canadian beauty models some old Hollywood glamour. Rachel McAdams is definitely a beauty veteran, we loved her at the Oscars. This style is extremely popular in the wedding industry these days. Red lips , constructed curls. We like how Rachel makes this seem young and fresh, yet still distinctly classic.

To pull off a down style old Hollywood look, set curls early in the morning and once taken down, don’t brush the curls out. Use a comb to “shape” the curls instead.

Dramatic Braided Bun

I’ve had a few emails the past few days about great summer updo’s that won’t move and will keep the bride cool. I found this Jessica Simson style and love the idea of it. It’s very dramatic but would be great for an outdoor wedding where wind and heat are a factor. It appears as though the hair is pulled back and fixed using styling cream or serum. Then the hair is tightly wrapped around the base of the ponytail. Separate out some hair and create 2 or 3 small braides. Wrap the braids in different directions around the bun and fix with bobby pins. Spray the whole look generously with super hold hair spray.

Oscars showed feminine hair and makeup – brides take note

The oscars did not disappoint for me this year. I predicted a lot of texture and vintage colors. What I saw was a reflection of that. A lot of dusty blue’s, coral’s and pinks. And the hair was distinctly feminine, with a ballerina feel. Look below at Rachel McAdams and Sarah Jessica Parker’s soft top bun.

I loved Emily’ Blunt’s blush gown for the Golden Globes. Well, an even grander example of that color and sentiment was presented by Demi Moore in her sweeping salmon gown that played gorgeously off her olive skin. She is flawless in an otherworldy way. How old is she again???

Feminine Glam Wedding Beauty

Winter is a great time to wear your hair down. since there will likely be outdoor photos and you might be cold, your hair can help with the chill. In the summer you have to worry about perspiring and your hair drooping.

I love love love this bride from Graddy Photography. It’s slightly sexy and very feminine. Having the veil at the crown of the head is not as common as it used to be, but when placed right, the veil adds height to the look and is ultra flattering.

Also, check out the beautiful bling she added to her hair, pinning it back on one side. It’s a great touch, especially when most brides remove their veil during the reception. Voila! You can show off your hair piece or barrette.

As for the makeup, I love the bride’s smokey eye and sculpted brow look. It looks like she has a strong and thin eyeliner application and a dark chocolate color contouring the eyelid at the corner and the crease.

By far, my favorite part about the makeup is the lip. Since the eyes are bold and sexy, the lip is sweet and subdued. A light pink on the lips looks great. Make sure to line the lips and opt for a matte pink color here, to really leave the focus on the eyes, but still make the lips prominent.
