Gratitude in Wedding Planning

I love reading other wedding vendors blogs. Photographers are great because they give you the daily eye candy like photos of weddings, engagements, babies and other breathtaking things. So in my Google Reader you’ll find many national wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes and Southern Weddings. But I also love local photographer blogs. It’s so wonderful to watch the great photographs of the Twin Cities pour in every day. There’s so much talent in Minneapolis. I always say, we’re the Mecca of the Midwest.

In my daily read of blogs, I happened upon a non-photo post by Studio Laguna, a Minneapolis Based photography studio. There work is bold, fresh and phenomenal. The blog post, though had no photos. Instead it was a great testament to gratitude in life – but more specifically as a bride. You’ll have to read the original post. But I loved these highlights:

  • Register for “dream items” and affordable items on your registry. Your wedding guests are already giving a lot by attending your wedding, don’t seem ungrateful by asking for fancy everything on your list.

  • Be sensitive to your bridesmaids’ budget. If you know they’re not rolling in the dough, don’t ask them to buy Monique Lhuillier dresses. Maybe you could all head out to Forever 21 and find something cute and cheap. I think this is a major insight, as being in a wedding can be a financial issue. The dress, the travel the parties. It adds up.

  • Finally, if you’re lucky enough to have your parents pay for your wedding, be grateful. Don’t feel guilty about it, but be aware of your fortune and act respectfully in your wedding planning.

That’s all for now. TGIF!
