Celebrity Inspiration: Drew Barrymore
Awards Season for me is like a lot of people’s football season. I love it. Mostly for the gowns, the hair, and the makeup. Recently we had the SAG awards, and I was really inspired by Drew Barrymore’s hair. Lately she’s been showing up on the red carpet with her cool, blonde hair in a Brigitte Bardot style. A lot of volume at the crown and chin length bangs framing the face.
The updo that she sported to the SAG awards was a variation of a french twist with a lot more height at the crown. For a lot of brides, wearing the hair up and out of the face is mandatory. Summer weddings can be too hot for a down-do. But, wearing the hair up can sometimes compromise that sex appeal and femininity that you want. I think Drew’s high volume Brigitte Bardot updo is a great compromise. It’s still sexy but off the shoulders, showing off the dress and keeping her cool.
